What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a holistic treatment that works by stimulating reflexes (or nerve pathways) located primarily on the feet, but also on the hands and ears. The theory behind Reflexology is that reflex points connect directly to the related areas of the body (similar to Chinese meridian theory in Acupuncture). Reflexologists apply specific pressure techniques to stimulate these reflexes in order to increase the flow of energy to the related areas of the body.

Reflexology helps to bring the body into “homeostasis”, or balance. It activates the parasympathetic nervous system (or rest and repair state), allowing time for cellular healing, stress reduction, and deep relaxation. Reflexology is effective in increasing circulation, which in turn is beneficial for cell growth and detoxification, lymphatic movement, and promoting oxygen-rich blood and healthy organs.
